Dear Parents and Pupils,
We have a hectic term ahead of us once again. This is a lengthy news letter, so please read through carefully, as we will not be sending out another reminder this term.
Please note there will be no dancing on the following days due to ballet exams and holidays this term

NB. There will be classes as per normal on Saturday the 1st of May to make up for classes cancelled on Sat the 17th of April.

Thursday, Cathy will take all the Ballet classes as usual)
Tuesday the 11th of May (All Classes Cancelled due to ballet exams)

GRADED EXAM PIANIST REHEARSALS:
Dress as you would for your exam. Please all make an effort to be here as this is the final pianist rehearsal. The rehearsals are at the Loraine Studio at 24A Karena Street.
Friday the 23rd of April and Saturday the 24th of April
GRADED BALLET EXAMS:
We are still waiting for the times to arrive in the post, but Jeffrey’s Bay will be on the afternoon of the 4th of May and Loraine will be on the 11th of May.
On your exam day, please be there at least ¾ of an hour before your exam time. Hair must be gelled back into a bun with a hair net, hair pins and clips. Make sure you have the correct uniform with you (clean ballet and character shoes with pink elastic). Please make sure that all elastics and ribbons are securely sewn on. Character skirts have hooks and eyes and fit the child’s waist properly. Velcro alone is not reliable. No underwear unless absolutely essential, no makeup, watches or jewellery allowed.
PE DANCE FESTIVAL:
We will be entering mostly the solo section of the dance festival this year. We will be teaching the Solo’s during normal class times, but only those who have reached an acceptable standard will be entered in the Festival. Costs are as follows:
Competitors Fee per Discipline: R 50.00
Cost per Solo: R 15.00
Cost per Group: R 15.00
Hire for Studio Costumes: Juniors: R 10.00
Seniors: R 20.00
If your child was in the concert last year and is in a repeat group for festival, there won’t be a hiring fee for the costumes.
These fees will have to be in no later than Monday the 31st of May..
PRE-Examination Course for Vocational Graded Exams:
All the Senior Girls who are doing their ballet exams this year will be expected to attend this course. Entry fees for this are due by Friday the 30th of July. This will be held from the 17th to 21st of September.
VOCATIONAL GRADED EXAMS:
Entry fees are due by Friday the 27th of August and are as follows:
Intermediate Foundation R 845.00
Intermediate: R 878.00
Advanced Foundation; R 1 430.00
Pianist fees will be advised later.
End of Year Concert:
From Term 3 we will be working on our end of year concert which should be loads of fun for the children. We would like every pupil to participate if possible. The concert will be held at the Opera House on Friday the 26th of November. The rehearsal at the Opera House will be on Friday the 19th of November.
Studio Tracksuits and Cross Over Cardigans:
A studio tracksuit or cross over cardigan to wear over your leotard can be ordered, please note that orders and monies must be in no later than the middle of May, so that we can have the stock ready for the Festival. Please see the price list hanging in the Studio.
Term ends after classes on Wednesday the 9th of June.
